Dear Geyserville Elementary Families,
Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! I hope you enjoyed a fun summer vacation filled with lasting memories! This promises to be a year filled with engaging opportunities for all of our students as we strive to find ways that we can be even better than we have been before.
I am grateful to continue this journey with you and your children as your Principal. Over the past two years, I have had the chance to get to know many of you and your children, and look forward to continuing to build a strong relationship with all of you in the upcoming year. I know that a strong partnership with you will help your child to have a successful experience in school.
Based on input from many of you, we will continue weekly folders that will go home with flyers and communication from school each Wednesday. We also will continue to update our website with current school news, highlights, photos and more! Please check www.gusd.com regularly (click on the GES tab).
We are excited to welcome our new Kindergarten/TK teacher, Aja Stinson, to GES! Mrs. Stinson has relocated from San Francisco to Santa Rosa and is thrilled to join our community and explore our beautiful county. She comes to GES as an experienced teacher, having taught Kindergarten, Preschool and First Grade previously. We are so lucky to have her and she will be a wonderful addition to our school.
This year, the TK/Kindergarten day will have an earlier dismissal time, at 1:10 daily. After care, provided by the Boys and Girls Club, will be available to TK/K students at this time. The schedule for students grades 1-5 will remain the same. I have attached a bell schedule for your reference. Bus service will be available for all grades at 2:35. Please feel free to contact our school office if you have any questions.
The first day of school is on Wednesday, August 15th. On the first day of school, we will send home a packet of information. Please be sure to look over the information and return all forms that need to be signed promptly. Thank you!
Thanks to our parent volunteers in the Ed Foundation and Parent Club, we will continue to offer enrichment programs this year. Our students will have the opportunity to engage in lessons in Art, Science, Zumba and Music during the school day. We will have various afterschool clubs in addition to the Boys and Girls Club. Please consider getting involved in one of our parent organizations or offering to volunteer to help this year. Parent involvement makes a positive and significant impact on our students!
I want to personally invite you to Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 29th from 5:30-7. This will be an important evening for us to strengthen our connection, meet teachers and other families, and learn about the upcoming school year. Translation and childcare will be available. I hope to see you there!
As you know, we have an amazing team of teachers and support staff who are dedicated, caring and passionate about educating our students. This year, we will continue to strive towards our school vision and build upon our core values at GES… educating and nurturing the whole child, reaching out and collaborating with our families and community, maintaining a positive attitude and school culture, keeping focused on our students and always working to learn and grow. We have much to look forward to!
Again, I welcome you to Geyserville Elementary School and to our learning community. I know that working together as a team, we will create a school experience where every student can thrive! Please do not hesitate to contact our school office or your child’s teacher with any questions. Here’s to a great 2018-19 school year!
Paulina Galindo received the Most Improved Student Award and was honored for her efforts by the Soroptimists of Healdsburg. We are very proud of this young lady!
