October Mustang News
Happy October! We are looking forward to an engaging month of learning! Thank you for taking the time to read our updates.
We are focusing on the Empathy Tool. This tool teaches us to care for others and to try to understand how they are feeling. Empathy is the root of tolerance, kindness and forgiveness. It is important to us that our students develop empathy to have positive relationships and be good people!
Please mark your calendars- We will have a TOOLBOX Parent Night on Wednesday, November 7th at 6:00 p.m. Learn how the tools empower students (and adults), how they can help with parenting at home, and how we use them here at school. This will be an informative and interactive night. Please join us!
Walk and Roll to School Day
We had many students participate in this day! Thank you to our parent volunteers who walked with our students from our meeting spots. We appreciate your support of this community event that supports a healthy habit of walking to school!
Ballet Folklorico volunteer(s) needed
We need a volunteer to help assist Piedad Flores with this class- no dance or Spanish language experience is necessary. Classes will be held after school from 3:45-4:45 on Wednesdays. This is an enriching, cultural opportunity for our 3rd through 5th graders, but we need your support to help it run smoothly! Please contact Mrs. Flores in the school office if you can help.
Message from Highway Patrol Officer Please slow down when you are driving in the 25mph zone in front of the school. This is for the safety of your children!! Thank you for being conscious of your driving speed.
GES Art Show- Oct 19-21 Geyserville Coffee Company- stop in to see our students’ artwork on display!
Musical Theater beginning October 16
Students will be performing the Wizard of Oz! This is a final call for any 2nd-5th graders who are interested in this program. Please turn in forms by this Friday, Oct. 5th.
Scarecrow Competition for Fall Colors A flyer went home to explain this fun community event… we need your help to collect materials and build the scarecrows. Please see the flyer for more information.
Make-up Photo Day
If your child missed a picture or needs a re-take, Make-up Picture Day will be on Tuesday, October 30th.
Enrichment opportunities at GES
* Students have continued to enjoy art, music, Zumba and science enrichment this month. We are so thankful to our parent organizations who volunteer their time to support these programs!
* We are currently in the process of hiring a garden coordinator and are excited to begin gardening class this month.
Thank you to Vanessa Flores for volunteering to be our secretary this year!
Our next meeting is tomorrow, Thursday October 4th, at 6:00 in the MPR. Spanish translation will be provided. We will be discussing a fundraising opportunity at the Geyserville Fall Colors event.
