Well here we are, at the end of our school year! This has been a great year, full of accomplishments at GES!! We have made significant improvements to strive towards our school vision. Here are just some of our successes:
2018 California Distinguished School!!!
Expansion of Art Program to include Ceramics
Music with Mr. Andrew
STEAM classroom in Room 3
New website- www.gusd.com
Wednesday communication folders
Math professional development for teachers
SO MUCH growth and learning for each student!
I would like to thank Parent Club for organizing Field Day yesterday- it was a blast! Thank you for all of your donations of food, supplies and funds for this celebration, and thank you to our volunteers who took the time to help us during the day!
Thank you also to our parents who are involved in the Ed Foundation who have worked so hard this year to sustain funds for our enrichment programs. I cannot emphasize enough, that GES would not be what it is without our parent volunteers.
Our teachers will be completing report cards and we will be mailing them out to you the week of June 11th. Yearbooks will also be coming in June, so we will call you or mail it to you, depending on the preference that you marked on your order form.
Next year, there will be some changes on campus. Margie Sloan will be teaching 1st grade, Connie Soldate will be moving to 2nd grade. Ms. Tiffany, our beloved librarian, will be moving out of state and will no longer be at GES. We are currently in the process of hiring a TK/K teacher and will also be hiring a new librarian for next year.
It is possible that the TK/K day will have an earlier dismissal time, at 1:10 daily. This will be up for approval by the GUSD Board in June. If this is the case, after care will be available to students in these grades, as well as busing at 2:35. Please check www.gusd.com for an update on this. I will also send letters to our incoming students during the summer regarding any changes.
This summer, please encourage your children to read, explore their interests, be creative and enjoy the outdoors. Take trips to the library, parks, museums, or whatever learning experiences you can think of! Have conversations that build your relationships with one another, work together to accomplish goals, and ask your children questions that require them to think critically. Limit and supervise their screen time and give them opportunities to be active. Best of luck to our 5th graders who are off to middle school! I wish you all a fantastic summer!!!
Paulina Galindo received the Most Improved Student Award and was honored for her efforts by the Soroptimists of Healdsburg. We are very proud of this young lady!
